TCF-USA, KANSAS PLAYS CRICKET FOR A CAUSE … THE TCF CAUSE!

Move over, Shahid Afridi! TCF-Kansas holds their first annual gala on the cricket pitch. Both mens’ and womens’ teams got their bowlers ready and their batsmen/batswomen in position. Here is a message from our friends in Kansas:
The sun was out, overcast clouds, gentle breeze, wonderful friends, delicious food and two awesome ladies teams (the men weren’t too bad either). We couldn’t have asked for more.
Our 1st Annual TCF Cricket Gala was a huge success. We had over 120 people who attended, 6 cricket teams and raised about $6,700 for Maria, Ali & Tausif’s fund. An additional $6,500 was donated to the TCF school in Minhala, Lahore. A great number of donors generously pledged to give towards the TCF cause.
We couldn’t have accomplished this without the support of our TCF Kansas chapter volunteers and supporters. Umer Saeed and Shahzad Zafar worked tirelessly for weeks. They got the t-shirts printed, scouted the venue, sent numerous emails and cajoled members of our community to come out and play cricket. Thank you!
Our children brought cookies, brownies, lemon squares and cupcakes for the bake sale, and I’m proud to say, raised about $450. Thank you to our little ones!
The Kansas Chapter will continue to support the TCF school in Minhala. We are still working towards the endowment and our target of $180,000 seems ever more attainable. So far in the last two and a half years, the Wichita chapter and Kansas City chapter have raised more than $100,000. This is the last stretch. WE can do it!
Next month, as you begin Ramadan, please think of the millions of children in Pakistan who need your help in guiding them through the classrooms of TCF and eventually raising them from poverty. Sumbul and I will be collecting your Zakat checks and will put it towards the endowment for the school in Minhala.
Lastly, if any of you are visiting Pakistan this summer, I implore you to go visit a TCF school. We can arrange for you to have a guided tour of any of the 1,060 TCF schools across Pakistan. Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer.
