TCF-USA North East Ohio Chapter: Dinner to Empower

Event Date: February 24th, 2018
Guests from both, the Pakistani and American community, were left moved by human rights activist, Samra Zafar, at her keynote speech for TCF-USA’s Dinner to Empower on February 24.
Organized by the North East Ohio Chapter, the event was held at the residence of Dr. Faisal Qureshy, Najia Usman and saw nearly 100 members of the community in attendance.
Zafar, who is a TEDx Presenter, scholar and social entrepreneur, delivered the keynote address: ‘unlocking potential through education’. She highlighted her personal experiences of being a child bride, escaping a decade of abuse, to now serving as the youngest alumni governor for the University of Toronto.
One attendee remarked: “We appreciated the opportunity to hear Samara’s inspiring story. She was a dynamic speaker who made the importance of education come alive. It was a wonderful evening to reflect and truly appreciate what we sometimes take for granted when so many are denied similar opportunities”.
Another draw at the event was the art exhibit by Eye for Art, which featured prominent Pakistani artists. Meanwhile, Sapna Creations Jewelry brought in a beautiful collection of fine jewels for a silent auction. A portion of all proceeds went towards TCF-USA’s mission of supporting underprivileged children.
For entertainment, guests were treated to a performance by master pianist Alex Kostritsa.
“I feel very proud of the event we organized. Education is a world humanitarian cause and TCF has a great model to change lives” said Dr. Najia Usman, the Chapter President.
