Khoso Village – A Resilient Community

Khoso Village - A Resilient Community

In early September, tragedy struck the people of Khoso village in Matiari, Sindh when the floods wiped away their homes and belongings. Displacement and loss of livelihood forced families in this farming community to take refuge in makeshift shelters. Among them are twenty seven children who also attend a TCF school in the village.

When TCF staff met these children, they were deeply touched by their optimism and resilience. Their contagious smiles, the sparkle in their eyes, and the sheer resolve to continue learning in the face of adversity even boosted the morale of the TCF staff.

“The people of Khoso were living in unimaginable conditions,” shared Ms. Hifza, a teacher at the TCF school. “We were afraid that their children will be forced to drop out so we made sure to regularly check up on them.”

As children are a reflection of their surroundings, it came as no surprise that as soon as the TCF school reopened, all families from the Khoso village sent their children back to school. The floods took away everything but did not dampen their hope.

Every morning, children from this village make their way through broken, flooded roads to their school. There, they experience the joy of learning, discover new things and learn about the unlimited potential that each one of them holds within.
